Overwhelmed with Self-Doubt? Try This Simple Shift...

Your Weekly Invitation to Slow Down...
Pause for 30 seconds, take a deep breath, and ask yourself:

When self-doubt whispers, how do I respond?
How might I use stillness to help me find my way back to myself?

Take this gentle pause with you if time is short, or settle in softly and explore with me...I'd love your company 🧚🏻

Hey Reader,

You know that feeling when you’re in a room full of thoughtful, insightful people, and suddenly, you start shrinking?

(That's not just me, right?)

That happened to me recently. During a group call, surrounded by voices sharing profound insights, I heard a familiar whisper creep in: "I'll never be that deep. My work, my life, it can't compare." I fell silent, deferring to others.

A few years ago, that spiral would have pulled me under for days, filling my head with thoughts like, "You're not enough. Why are you even trying?"

But something’s shifted.
I’ve learned how to find my way back...and it starts with stillness.

But not the kind of stillness you might expect.

Don't get me wrong, that spiral did take over my body for a while but then I did something simple. I moved. I stepped outside, put my bare feet on the ground, and shook it off. That led to a little dancing in my living room, then a slow, steady walk.

It’s funny how movement can be the thing that helps us settle. Sometimes your body just needs release. When we’re stressed, our body tightens and our mind gets stuck. But movement helps clear the block, allowing energy to flow freely again and bringing calm to both body and mind.

After, I was able to look at the situation again more clearly. When those "I'm not enough" thoughts arose again, I was able to pause and ask, Is that really true?

Three Ways to Center Yourself

If you ever find yourself caught in a spiral of doubt, here are a few ways to help you find your way back to calm:

  1. Let movement guide you to stillness. Put your feet on the earth, dance in your kitchen, or simply stretch. Your body often knows the way back to calm when your mind feels lost.
  2. Create space for your own voice. Whether through journaling, walking, or simply breathing; find what helps you hear yourself clearly above the noise of self-doubt. Sometimes the simplest movements can create the biggest shifts.
  3. Practice returning to center. When those "not enough" thoughts arise, pause and ask yourself: "Is this really true?" Notice how these thoughts feel in your body, then give yourself permission to move through them, literally.

A Final Thought

Stillness is already within you, steady beneath the surface. Just like I found my way back that day - from grounding to dancing to walking to clarity - you can, too.

What if, next time self-doubt whispers, you met it with movement instead of criticism? How might that shift things for you?

Oh...and before you go....I’m playing with an idea to help you invite more stillness into your days...something simple, accessible, and soul-nourishing. If that sounds like something you’d love, hit reply and let me know you’re interested!

Sending love and spiral-free vibes,

Chris

🌿 Root Yourself

Quick grounding practices to help you slow down and reconnect.

This Week's Tip: Stillness Through Movement

Find a quiet space. Take a deep breath in… and let it go.

Gently shake out your hands, arms...maybe even your whole body...like a tree releasing its leaves. No force, just release.

Now, plant your feet firmly on the ground. Breathe in steadiness, breathe out tension. Feel yourself settle.

No need to chase clarity. Just be here.
