What if you thanked yourself this week?

Hey Reader,

It's Thanksgiving week here in the US and it's got me (and so many others) thinking about what we're thankful for. My question to you is....

What if we started saying "thank you" to ourselves?
You are the one person who is always with you. Every moment of every day. Why wouldn't you thank yourself?

For many of us, others always come first. We deeply appreciate what they've done for us, yet dismiss our own accomplishments as "no big deal." Maybe that's just me, but... I'm imagining many of you are nodding your heads right now, thinking "yeah, that sounds about right."

Before you dive into ALL the things this week, take some time to reflect on how you've shown up for yourself this year - big or small. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Recognize small acts of self-care. Workouts, rest, play, journaling, hobbies, etc... They ALL count!
  • Celebrate boundaries you've established to protect your peace and energy
  • Acknowledge your progress in personal and professional goals - big and small

Here's a thought to carry with you this week: If your closest friend had walked your path this year, faced your challenges, and achieved what you have – what would you say to them?

Now, why not say those same words to yourself?

Sending love and grateful vibes,

Chris

Need Some Time For You in December?

If you need somewhere you can step out of the holiday/year-end whirlwind and just… breathe...I've got you.

I've have two ways for you to slow down with me in December — to rest, to breathe, to be with yourself in the middle of the blur of holidays, year-end deadlines, and everything pulling at your attention. Oh, and a bonus one if you are local in the Baltimore area.

  • Color Me Unplugged sessions: Virtual gathering to unplug from everything and reconnect with yourself through coloring. There are three December dates to choose from. Stay for a few minutes or the whole time…whatever feels right.

  • Private Rest Stop session: It's thirty minutes to hit the pause button — or the "Calgon Take Me Away" button (IYKYK). We can color, walk, sit in silence, look out the window at nature, breathe — whatever you need. Tell me what sounds good when you book, or we can figure it out when you show up. It's simply 30 minutes held just for you.

  • Unplugged: Color & Silence at Wishing Star Farm: Join me for an unplugged 90-minutes on Wednesday, December 10 at Wishing Star Farm in Glen Arm, MD. It's an evening of unplugging and unwinding filled with coloring, conversation and yes, some moments of silence.

Sundays Unplugged is your weekly reminder to slow down and create space for you. Remember, while your work, your people, and your life matters… so do you.

If this resonated, feel free to forward it to someone who might need this reminder too.

Three pictures side by side - moon at night, trees through window, small fir tree.

Nature from my NY trip: Early morning moon, trees from my AirStream, little fir tree on hike. Last week I headed to New York to spend a few days unplugged - driving up in complete silence, hoping boredom would lead to insights and clarity. Here's what actually happened... I drove the entire four hours in silence and enjoyed it (I'm as shocked as anyone). But about 90 minutes after arriving and getting settled in my room, I was bored. And then found myself caught in swirls of uncertainty and...

Grey and white cat with head on his paw and eyes closed laying on red and tan blanket.

My cat Marley...clearly bored with me. When was the last time you were bored? If you're reading this on Sunday morning, I'm somewhere on 95/NJ Turnpike heading north to the Catskills in New York. In silence. (Or at least trying to be in silence...) That's right. No music. No podcasts. No audiobooks. Just me, the road, and four hours of nothing but my own thoughts and road noise. It's an experiment and I'm not sure how it will go. Four hours on the road in silence is....a lot... 😬 Why the...

Sunrise through trees

Sunrise in my backyard. It's the calmest moment of my day. What if took a moment or two...just for you? Have you noticed it yet? That feeling that time is both racing ahead and running out all at once? We're in that stretch now...you know the one...where the holidays are approaching and the year-end is looming. The to-do lists are multiplying and so much needs to get done. The world feels heavy, and yet we're supposed to somehow summon “holiday spirit” while it all swirls around us. And in...
