This wasn't the calm I ordered 😭

Last week I headed to New York to spend a few days unplugged - driving up in complete silence, hoping boredom would lead to insights and clarity.

Here's what actually happened...

I drove the entire four hours in silence and enjoyed it (I'm as shocked as anyone). But about 90 minutes after arriving and getting settled in my room, I was bored. And then found myself caught in swirls of uncertainty and overthinking.

I journaled. A lot. Pages and pages of circular thinking. No earth-shattering insights (which is what I was hoping for!). Just confusion, sadness, and glimmers that never really led anywhere.

By the end of my time in New York, I felt lost. And I had cried more than a few times.

The irony? I help people slow down so they can find calm, clarity, and connection to self - and I didn't find much of that on this trip. A bit more calm, for sure. But clarity? Connection? Not so much.

So will I do this again? Absolutely yes.

Because showing up for yourself isn't a one-and-done. You try, and sometimes you get what you were hoping for and sometimes you don't. But you show up. For yourself. And that matters.

That's the practice. That's the work.

I stumbled across this bit of writing over the weekend. It's something I wrote a few years ago, and it reminded me of my time in NY and what my work is truly about...

Finding Your Way Back

I help people find their path back to themselves

Sometimes, we get lost
Or take a step off the trail
Other times, the foliage is so dense
The path so foggy
That we can't find our way.

It's at those times that we need to pause
To stay still
To lean into the discomfort
Of not knowing what to do or where to go.

I'm here to help you find your path back to yourself
To that quiet center
Where your magic lies
Where it's been all along
Waiting for you.

Because when you get there?
That's when the magic happens
When creativity sparks
When joy is found
When love is felt
When you can say "I'm home".

This is my reminder to you that you haven't lost your way. You haven't lost yourself. The path (and you) are still there, even when you can't see it through the fog, the busyness, all the things...

If you feel like you could use a guide to help you find your calm center, to find space to just be, book a free call and let's chat.

Or just hit reply and share what's on your mind. I'm here.

Sending love and calming vibes,

🌿 Unplugged Moments

Quick grounding practices to help you slow down and reconnect.

This Week's Tip: The 3-Second Grounding

Stop for a moment.

Place your feet flat on the ground.

Take 3 deep breaths, focusing on the sensation of your feet connecting to the earth.

Feel the support beneath you.

And just like that, you’re rooted in the present moment, reminded that the path is always there.

You aren't lost. You aren't confused.

You are right here. In the present.

Where else can you be but here?

Sundays Unplugged is your weekly reminder to slow down and create space for you. Remember, while your work, your people, and your life matters… so do you.

My cat Marley looking curious I've been thinking about curiosity a lot recently and this phrase from childhood popped into my head: Curiosity killed the cat. Satisfaction brought him back. I don't know the origins of the phrase but I remember it being shared with me a lot as a kid. Maybe because I was always asking why. 🤷🏼♀️ And yes, I could have looked up the origin before sharing this email with you but I'm having more fun coming up with my own theories: To get kids to stop asking why all...

A peek into my morning ritual...candle, coffee, journal... I've been talking to a lot of people lately about small rest practices…things they can do when they're pressed for time or just starting a new rest habit. This is very much on my mind this week because I'm traveling, and traveling has a way of putting your practices to the test. For example, my mornings at home are a whole vibe: soft lighting, a candle, meditation, a bit of journaling. When I'm away, those things can either get tossed...

I missed the Global Day of Unplugging. Yes, you read that right. The person who helps people disconnect from the busyness of life completely missed it. What can I say…life 🤷🏼♀️ What is the Global Day of Unplugging? It’s an annual 24-hour pause that takes place the first weekend of March — a global initiative encouraging people to step away from their screens, slow down, and reconnect with what matters most. And I missed it. But wait…here's the good news! You can unplug anytime you want. So...
