Too Busy? Here’s Your Reset Button!

When's the last time you noticed the world around you?

Not just glanced at it while rushing between tasks, but really noticed it?

We rush through our days responding to what demands our attention - the ping of notifications, looming deadlines, to-do lists that never seem to end.

But when did you last pause to truly see what's right in front of you?

The way the clouds move across the sky, the sound of the rain hitting your roof, the swoop of a bird flying across the sky. Has it been a minute?

I get it. We get so caught up in our to-do lists that we forget to marvel at the simple fact that we're here. That we are standing on a rock hurtling through space, held here only by gravity. That's it. That's all that's tethering us to this world.

Why does this matter? Because noticing - really noticing - is how we find calm in our busy world. When you take even two minutes to watch clouds drift by or listen to birds sing, your nervous system shifts. You breathe deeper. The knots in your shoulders loosen. Your mind quiets. It's like hitting a reset button you didn't know you had.

This week, what if you gifted yourself small moments of noticing each day?

You might:

  • Watch clouds move across the sky
  • See trees dance in the wind
  • Listen to the rain (really listen)
  • Feel the earth beneath your feet
  • Smell a flower in your garden (my lavender is blooming and smells AMAZING!)

It sounds simple, and it is. You just need to make the time to notice. Maybe you can stack it with something that you do everyday. Walk out to the car? Pause for a moment. Get the mail? Pause for a moment. I think you get the idea....

Know you should do this but need someone to hold space for you to actually slow down? I offer 30-minute Guided Pause sessions where we slow down together. You'll leave feeling refreshed and renewed, with simple practices to weave into your daily life.

If that feels like too much right now, reply to this email and let me know what's on your mind. I'm happy to brainstorm ways to weave pauses into your day!

Sending love and slow down vibes,

Chris

Weekends can get… busy. Especially holiday weekends (it's Memorial Day weekend here in the US). Errands to run. Cookouts to show up for. Things to check off the list. But somewhere in all that doing, don’t forget about you. Make a little space to breathe. To pause. To be.Whatever that looks like for you. Here are a few of my favorite ways to slow down, even just for a moment: Lay back and watch the clouds drift by Take a walk — no music or podcasts, just noticing what's around you Open that...

Hey Reader, Are you out there spinning all the plates—afraid that if you slow down, one (or five) will come crashing down? How does that look? Frantic? Tense? Like something’s always one breath away from breaking? How does that feel? And most importantly...when does that person get to breathe? Chances are, that plate-spinner is you. Maybe this week. Maybe every week. You're balancing family, work, responsibilities, all the things... but what about you? When do you get to breathe? I get it....

Yesterday morning, I paused for a few moments and watched the leaves gently dance in the breeze. It was a simple reminder that stillness doesn't have to be complicated or long. Sometimes, all it takes is a few deep breaths and a quiet moment to reset. It made me remember: Stillness is always available - when we choose to make space for it. Go ahead and try it with me...right now... Take a deep breath. Feel your feet on the ground. Unclench your jaw.Relax your shoulders.Inhale deeply and feel...
