Hey Reader,
Are you out there spinning all the plates—afraid that if you slow down, one (or five) will come crashing down?
How does that look? Frantic? Tense? Like something’s always one breath away from breaking?
How does that feel?
And most importantly...when does that person get to breathe?
Chances are, that plate-spinner is you. Maybe this week. Maybe every week.
You're balancing family, work, responsibilities, all the things... but what about you?
When do you get to breathe?
I get it. Believe me, I do. I took a look at my own list this week and felt the chest-tightening start:
- Finalize a presentation
- Prep for a local expo
- Design handouts
- Newsletter & video creation
- Meetings
- Web updates
- Pack for a conference
- And... a scheduled power outage (because, of course)
Then, just as I was spiraling, my husband said:
“Hey—want to go to the brewery tomorrow? They’ve got live music.”
Cue the mental math.
Do I have time for that? Should I say no?
But here’s the thing: it’s two hours. Not a week.
And when I zoomed out, I realized that everything on my list is doable. But only if I show up rested and recharged.
Taking time for myself—whether it's a quiet morning, a walk after dinner, or just stepping away from the to-do list—helps me be more present and focused. The result? I get more done. With more creativity. More clarity. Less stress.
Here’s the truth: the better we take care of ourselves, the more we can show up for everything else that matters—whether it's work, family, or you.
And remember this:
You have the power to pause a plate. Let it wobble. Set it down. Or sprinkle some fairy dust and ask for help or delegate it.
So, this week, I invite you to consider these three questions:
- Is there a plate you can set down—just for now?
- Is there a plate that you can let wobble, knowing it doesn’t have to be perfect?
- Is there a moment you can claim this week, just for you? Even ten minutes counts.
Let me know how you’re making time for you this week because...
Your life matters.
And so do you.
